Twitter is rolling out a major update soon that simplifies the conversation interface on all platforms making it easier to follow conversations.
A regular Twitter user? Then you may realize how difficult it is to stay connected in a conversation with others on the platform. But all that is about to change as Twitter announced Wednesday that a major update is rolling out to all platforms including mobile apps and its website. The social network aims at simplifying access to conversations on its site by arranging tweets in chronological order, with a connecting blue line.
"You'll see up to three Tweets in sequence in your home timeline; if you want to see more, you can tap a Tweet to see all the replies, including those from people you don't follow," Twitter said in an official blog post Wednesday.
The social networking service has already begun rolling out the update to all users across different platforms.
All tweets will be displayed in an organized way connected with a blue line, which means they are a part of a conversation. If users want to see the rest of the linked tweets, they can click "more replies." In addition, Twitter will also allow users to share whole conversations with others via email, even if the recipient is not a Twitter user.
The San Francisco-based company has also responded to the controversial "report abuse" button, which has been given high importance mainly after female journalists and a Member of Parliament were harassed and threatened with rape. The hard-to-find report abuse attracted worldwide attention and also a petition, Change.org, was launched asking for the feature. The petition gained importance after it received more than 139,000 signatures. The service is already available on iPhone app and soon will be reaching Android and its website.
Finally, the file size of the Twitter app has been reduced to half its current size, which will make downloads and updates quicker.
