More than 15 years have passed since the shooting massacre at Columbine High School in 1999, and Sue Klebold, the mother of shooter Dylan Klebold, is ready to tell her story. Coinciding with the publication of her memoir, "A Mother's Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy," Klebold will sit down with ABC News' Diane Sawyer for her first-ever television interview in February.
ABC News will air the interview with air during a one-hour special about school shootings, the lasting impact on the community, ideas for prevention and mental health, according to Deadline. Klebold has also promised to donate all profits from the sale of her boot to research and charitable foundations that focus on mental health issues.
Dylan and Eric Harris entered Columbine High School in Colorado on April 20, 1999 and killed 13 people, 12 students and one teacher, before taking their own lives. Another 24 were injured. Their motivations were linked to everything from bullying, music, mental illness, and violent video games and movies.
Excerpts from Sawyer's interview will air across all of ABC News' platforms including "Good Morning America," "World News Tonight with David Muir," "Nightline," ABCNews.com, ABC News Radio and ABC NewsOne.
"A Mother's Reckoning" will hit shelves on Feb. 16, 2016.
