After weeks of playing musical chairs with co-hosts, "The View" seems to be nearing a deal with Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris that would make the two ladies full time cast members, according to The Hollywood reporter.
Cameron Bure is an outspoken conservative Christian who impressed producers when she and co-host Raven-Symone got into a heated argument over an Oregon bakery's refusal to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple. Faris is already in the ABC family and co-hosts "GMA Weekend."
Faris' deal would feature her on "The View" Monday through Thursday so she can continue hosting her second gig, according to Variety. The network hopes that she can fill the show 's "journalist spot" while Cameron Bure fills the "conservative" spot that has been lacking since Elizabeth Hasselbeck left the talk show in 2013 to join "Fox & Friends."
The two would join recent additions Raven-Symone and Michelle Collins, as well as the only veteran co-host, Whoopi Goldberg. The addition of Cameron Bure and Faris follows the exit of Rosie O'Donnell, who left in February, Rosie Perez, who announced her departure earlier this month, and Nicole Wallace, who was reportedly fired from the roundtable, Variety reported. Wallace is the former communications chief for George W. Bush and served as the senior advisor for the McCain-Palin campaign in 2008.
To help make juggling schedules possible for Cameron Bure and Faris, "The View" plans to institute a panel of contributors who will "pop up" on episodes as substitutes when full time co-hosts cannot be there. Those in the running for the part-time gigs include Molly Sims, ex co-host Sherri Shepherd, stylist Stacy London and Wallace, who has not decided if she'll continue on the show in the smaller role. If Cameron Bure does not accept a full time co-host deal, she will also be considered as a contributor.
