Happy fifth birthday, One Direction! Five years after coming in third on the U.K. version of "X Factor," the band is still going strong - minus one member - and the group members took some time to thank their fans for their awesome support.
Harry Styles took to Twitter to thank everyone from his fans to the crew members for their support over the last five years and also acknowledged that it would be impossible to thank everyone who was involved in their success.
"We have been a band for five years. And it is impossible to thank anyone enough for all the support they have given us over this time.." Styles wrote. "All the crew that we have been so lucky to work with, and everyone who is behind the scenes. We thank you for everything that you do. To you who support us, in any way, thank you. We wouldn't be here without you. You did this and we thank you for having us. All the love."
Louis Tomlinson, who is expecting his first child, also commented, "Every single day we are thankful for the platform that you incredible people gave us. What an amazing 5 years it's been!! You have been by far the most incredible fanbase and nothing you do goes unnoticed. We are so lucky to have you guys ! Thanks so much :) My attempt of expressing how thankful we are for you guys!"
"5 years, literally sittin down talking about last night. Insane! I remember the day we were out together like it was yesterday! Thank you so much for what you've done for us so far, what an incredible journey it's been, wish we could thank you all," Niall Horan shared. "You guys have changed our lives and we all love you so much! Best fans on the planet, easy! Thanks to the boys too, we've seen and done some incredible things together, love you all!"
Zayn Malik may no longer be a part of One Direction but the boys apparently still have a strong bond. He did not post an official comment on the band's fifth anniversary but joined in by re-tweeting a post from Liam Payne.
"Wowwwww 5 years 5 boys what an amazing journey I couldn't thank you all ever enough. And thank you Louis Niall Harry and zayn for everything," Payne wrote. Malik later added, "@Real_Liam_Payne thanks bro ! x."
The former boy band member also re-tweeted another post by his former bandmate which read, "Thanks for all the memories boys I love you all."
Since becoming a band, One Direction has had four top-selling albums - "Up All Night," "Take Me Home," "Midnight Memories" and "Four." The band also has had several hit songs and has won 19 Teen Choice Awards, five Brit Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards and five Billboard Music Awards.
