We get it: all-American rock star and outspoken gun activist Ted Nugent's wife is carrying. She's holding. Makes sense.
But at the airport? Come on!
51-year-old Shemane Ann Nugent was arrested at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Friday, when security found a handgun in her carry-on luggage.
According to the report on the incident, Nugent told airport officials that she forgot the pistol was in her purse. She is licensed to carry a concealed weapon, and informed security that she'd been getting death threats over the last few days, so she'd started toting a gun around with her.
She has since been taken into custody, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Nugent's lawyer David Finn said the whole thing was an "honest mistake."
"She is very embarrassed," Finn told the Morning News. "She's never been in this situation before. She has expressed remorse for any inconvenience for any public safety officials."
Ted Nugent is on the board for the National Rifle Association, and has appeared on a handful of television shows expressing his support for Second Amendment rights.
Home videos have shown Shemane standing next to her husband, shooting a variety of arms.
Next time, perhaps Shemane will have the presence of mind to remove the gun from her purse before she gets in line at airport security.
At least she put her liquids in 3 ounce containers.
