Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch Specs: New Wrist Accessory Comes With BlueTooth And Fitness Features (PHOTOS)

Samsung is set to unveil its Galaxy Gear smartwatch next Wednesday on Sept. 4 at a press event in Berlin. However, as with all high-profile and hugely anticipated tech devices, the Galaxy Gear wouldn't be a true unveiling without several leaks to go along with its debut in days prior. Now it appears the device's specs have finally been revealed.

VentureBeat claims it was given a look at the specifications of the device before launch. However, it makes a point of warning readers that Samsung is a "highly security conscious" company and takes great pains to protect its designs and occasionally sends off prototypes that don't mirror the final design. However, it likely won't be far off.

The watch will come with an high-quality OLED display with a square screen. It is about 3-inches diagonally, making it quite large and a little clunky with its rectangular shape with rounded corners. It comes in a basic black and grey color scheme with a wrist-strap big enough to hold speakers in the clasp. While the device is a little clunky, VentureBeat's tester claims it isn't necessarily heavy to hold, it just might be a little odd looking on smaller wrists.

The prototype came with Bluetooth to connect to the Galaxy S family of smartphones from Samsung and other Android devices as well. It has WiFi built in including e-mail even when its not connected to a smartphone. It comes with a 4-megapixel camera built into the strap as well as the tiny speakers.

It comes with Samsung S Voice commands, preloaded with Android apps for social media and health tracking, a swipe function for accessing apps on the touch-screen, call logs, Internet access, a power button on its side, Facebook and Twitter integration and has a battery life of more than ten hours.

The watch also has an important health and fitness aspect to it including ways to measure workout data including steps and heart rate. Samsung is expected to unveil the final version of the device on Sept. 4
