John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are in the early stages of scripting Marvel's first "Spider-Man" movie but to help the process along, the two screenwriters will get an early peak at the web-slinging superhero in "Captain America: Civil War."
Daley and Goldstein confirmed Tom Holland's cameo in the upcoming Marvel film in an interview with Vulture about their latest movie, "Vacation." They will head to Marvel Studios this weekend to take a first look at Holland in action as Spider-Man.
"We hear good things," Goldstein told Vulture. "We might even get to look at the Spidey suit, which is exciting."
It's no surprise Holland will appear in the next "Captain America" movie since he tested with "Avengers" stars Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. during his audition process. He was the only one of the final six contenders to test chemistry with the "Captain America" and "Iron Man" actors.
Marvel has yet to confirm any of the other rumored characters set to appear in the solo "Spider-Man" flick including Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. What characters to add is a continuing discussion between the studio and the writers.
"We've discussed certain characters," said Daley "but nothing is certain yet, for sure."
Marvel Studios President spoke last month about introducing an unseen villain into the Spider-Man story after Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's versions took on Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom, Sandman, or Elektro across five movies at Sony Pictures.
"Right now we're interested in seeing villains we haven't seen before," Feige told Birth Movie Death.
The untitled "Spider-Man" movie will premiere in July 2017.
