The Milwaukee Brewers traded outfielder Gerardo Parra to the Baltimore Orioles on Friday, according to multiple sources. Previous rumors have linked Parra, one of the biggest names expected to be dealt before the MLB trade deadline, to the Orioles.
FOX Sports' Jon Morosi first reported earlier this morning that the Orioles were in the lead for Parra and then FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal said Baltimore was closing in on the outfielder moments later. Jon Heyman of CBS Sports added the deal is now pending physicals.
Rosenthal noted the Orioles will be sending prospect right-hander Zach Davies to Milwaukee in the deal. The 22-year-old is 5-6 with a 2.84 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 81 strikeouts in 19 games (18 starts) at Triple-A Norfolk. Baseball America ranked Davies as the Orioles' No. 8 overall prospect.
Parra, 28, will be a free agent after the season. He's batting .328/.369/.517 with 53 runs scored, 9 home runs, 31 RBIs and 9 stolen bases in 100 games this year.
Here are a few more who are confirming the deal:
The trade proposal was first noted by SB Nation's Lookout Landing, but Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com said it was initially believed last night the Brewers wanted more than Davies.
