A man was killed and dozens of people were left injured after a strong wind from a brief storm blew off the mooring of a tent, where people were seeking shelter, and collapsed on top of the crowd at a festival near Chicago on Sunday, according to the Associated Press.
The incident took place at approximately 2:40 in the afternoon, where Steven Nincic, 35, died on the spot and 15 people had to be transported to hospitals.
Those who were slightly injured were treated and released on the scene, according to a press release by the Wood Dale Police Department.
Thousands of people had attended the Wood Dale Prairie Fest, an annual four-day festival held at Wood Dale Junior High School that has live music, a carnival and fireworks.
The brief storm then made its way to suburban Rosemont and caused a dome, where the Chicago Bandits softball team plays, to collapse as well, according to BuzzFeed.
