Snoop Dogg Stopped In Italian Airport With $422,000 In Cash

Rapper Snoop Dogg was stopped by customs as he attempted to leave Italy after a concert, the Associated Press reported. He was stopped by police at the Lamezia Terme airport in southwest Italian city of Calabria on Saturday with $422,000 in cash.

In Europe, air passengers may only carry 10,000 euros or ($11,000) of undeclared cash. Snoop Dogg (real name Calvin Broadus) attempted to board a private plane to Britain with Louis Vuitton luggage that carried $422,000, which is well above the maximum amount allowed on a plane, according to Reuters. The 43-year-old rapper was in Calabria to perform a concert.

"We clarified everything from a legal point of view. The money came from concerts he had performed around Europe," Andrea Parisi, Snoop Dogg's lawyer, told Reuters. "There was no crime; it was just an administrative infraction."

Italian anti-money laundering codes allowed for half of the cash to be impounded, according to the AP. The other half was returned to Snoop Dogg, and the rest of his money will be held until Italian authorities determine an appropriate fine.

This is the second time Snoop Dogg has been involved in an incident with police in a foreign country. Last week, the rapper was arrested in Sweden after being pulled over on suspicion of illegal drug use, as previously reported by HNGN. He was taken to a Swedish police station where he was forced to take a urine drug test, and was released shortly after.
