HBO announced Tuesday that it will air the seventh and the final season of the vampire hit series, True Blood, next summer with a total of 10 episodes.
There is some upsetting news for the fans of the supernatural drama series, True Blood, as HBO has announced the final airing of its vampire hit series next summer. The immortal vampires will be seen for the last time in the 10-episode, seventh season of True Blood.
"True Blood has been nothing short of a defining show for HBO," HBO Program Chief Michael Lombardo said in a statement accompanying the announcement, according to Hollywood Reporter. "Alan Ball [Executive producer] took the books by Charlaine Harris, assembled a brilliant cast led by the magnificent Anna Paquin in the role of Sookie Stackhouse and crafted a show that has taken its many devoted fans on an unforgettable journey."
Ball was awestruck by Charlaine's books and knew from the beginning that they would achieve immense popularity. "Then our amazing writers, cast and crew brought her world to life in a way that exceeded my wildest expectations," Ball said in a statement.
The sixth season of HBO's third-most-watched original scripted series ended last month leaving the audience craving for more. Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) went up in flames with the sunlight as he was reading a novel sitting on a black lawn chair. The last episode also showed a new alliance between the vampires and humans in Bon Temps.
Some fans even expressed their excitement for the finale but are also upset about that the series has come to an end.

While it would be heartbreaking to see the series end when it has so much potential, at least a prior announcement suggests that the seventh season will be extremely exciting. The sixth season of the series grossed an average 10.6 million views across multiple showings and platforms. HBO has not confirmed the official date for the seventh season but it will be aired next summer.
