After quickly rising to fame as just a teenager, and years before she was a mother, Britney Spears went through a pretty tough time in her life. In 2007, the now 33-year-old singer had a public meltdown, resulting in her being placed on psychiatrist hold and putting her under conservatorship, according to Gossip Cop. Her father, Jamie Spears, has been her conservator since January 2008, and although Spears has been doing better than ever for years now, Jamie sees no reason to end the conservatorship because it's going so well.
Her father has control over her two conservatorships, according to TMZ. One is for her as a person and one is for her finances. They've seen no problems with how things have been going and plan on continuing it long term, and possibly for life. Nobody involved is complaining because before this all happened, her finances were an absolute mess.
Just last year, the conservatorship brought in $14 million, which is only a portion of her financial earnings. She is looked after by a team of lawyers, medical personnel and family members and she still has "substantial day-to-day" freedom to make her own personal and financial decisions, so why stop?
"There is no reason to break the conservatorship with everything working so well," a source close to the family told Us Weekly. "Everything is working perfectly under this arrangement and it will stay that way."
Spears is now a mother of two and, thanks to her kids, she is far from the person she was during her mental health crisis in 2008. Her sons Sean, 9, and Jayden, 8, are her main focus. "She's a very fun mom and the boys adore her," another insider said. She's constantly spending time with them and taking them on vacations. She couldn't be happier with how her life is going.
