Toronto Nightclub Shooting: 2 Dead At Drake-Hosted Event

Shots rang out at a Toronto nightclub event hosted by Drake early Tuesday morning, leaving two people dead and three wounded. The shooting began at the bar but continued outside the club, according to the Associated Press.

The club was hosting the official OVO Fest after-party. Drake was featured, but his presence during the shooting was not immediately known, according to CBS News.

When the shooting started, hundreds of people were at the scene, according to The Toronto Star. Police didn't fire any shots.

The shooting was called in at 3:30 a.m. Police responded to reports that shots were being fired at the Muzik nightclub moments later, according to the AP.

The victims were a man and a woman in their 20s and 30s. Toronto Police Supt. Frank Bergen said that three others were brought to the hospital with injuries varying in severity, according to the AP. The man was pronounced dead on the scene while the woman died on her way to the hospital, according to The Toronto Star.

It's not yet known whether this was a targeted shooting, but Deputy Police Chief Peter Sloly said that there was "at least one completely innocent bystander in this. And we're very lucky that it wasn't more, given how crowded the venue was," according to The Toronto Star.

Last year, there was a similar incident when a 28-year-old-man was shot after an OVO Fest, according to the AP.
