After being married for 16 years, Thompson Square's Keifer and Shawna Thompson announced via social media Tuesday that they are expecting their first child in January.
"We're really, really excited," 39-year-old Keifer said, according to People. "We've been together for a long time and we've done a lot of things, and we just really felt there was something missing. We love what we do, we love the music business, but we didn't want to deprive ourselves of having a family."
The couple can be seen clinking Diet Coke cans in the picture. Keifer held up a can with "Dad" imprinted on it, while Shawna's had "Mom" written on it. The soon-to-be father gave a big thumbs up to the camera, as Shawna flowed with a huge smile on her face.
The musicians' credits include hits like "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not" and "If I Didn't Have You." They won the ACM Award as well as the CMA Award for "Vocal Duo of the Year" in 2012 and continued their winning streak by taking home the ACM award the following year as well, according to E!.
Earlier this year, the pair released the single "Trans Am," which was the country duo's debut single from their upcoming album, slated for release this fall.
"It's a very live feeling album. We want this album to reflect our live show. It's full of tempo," the duo said, Radio reported. "It's very rocking. It's just that much fun. We're just so proud of it. It's going to be a fun album to play live."
