"Empire" co-creator Lee Daniels revealed that Mariah Carey will be seen on the Fox drama next season.
"Watch her on 'Empire,' you guys," Daniels broke the news to the crowd that gathered for the ceremony. "She's coming on 'Empire,'" according to Entertainment Tonight.
This isn't the first time Carey and Daniels are working together. The two have previously worked together on films such as "Precious," "Tennessee" and Lee Daniels' "The Butler." Daniels' decision to cast the pop diva in the show does not come as a surprise, as he helped Carey resurrect her big screen career with her stripped-down role in "Precious."
This will be Carey's first major TV appearance since "Real Husbands of Hollywood." Her other major television credits include "American Dad" and one episode of "Ally McBeal" back in 2002. The five-time Grammy winner recently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
No further details of her appearance on the hit series have been released yet, but the network is expected to announce its plans for "Empire" and other TV shows at a Television Critics Association panel on Thursday, CBS News reported.
But the very idea of Mariah Carey hanging out with Cookie Lyon, makes the wait for the second installment of the series, which premieres Sept. 23, a whole lot harder, according to E!.
