Gaza Blast: 4 Palestinians Dead, 30 Wounded

Four Palestinians were killed and 30 others were wounded on Thursday after ordnance exploded in Gaza.

The explosion occurred as the Abu Naqeira family began clearing out their home, which was a target during the conflict with Israel last summer, and has now been reduced to ruins, according to the New York Times. The four Palestinians killed were from the same family.

The home where the ordnance exploded, which was crowded at the time, is located in the southern Gaza town of Rafah, along the Egyptian border, according to Reuters.

Rabie Abu Nqira was an eyewitness, helping the family and Palestinian workers clear out the rubble when "a huge explosion occurred," he said, the Associated Press reported.

The home was originally hit by an Israeli air strike on July 9 of last year, but there is no word yet on why the home was targeting specifically.

It is also unclear whether or not the family knew that they were in danger of an unexploded ordnance going off, The New York Times reported.

A spokesman for Gaza's Health Ministry said that they believed the death toll will continue to rise, as many of those injured were injured critically.
