Owl City Former Musician Charged With Luring 14-Year-Old To Hotel Room For Sex

Daniel Jorgensen, a former touring musician for the band Owl City, has been charged with criminal sexual contact and attempting to lure an underage girl to his hotel room in 2013.

The 30-year-old was indicated Tuesday by a grand jury in New Jersey for the event, which took place in Atlantic City, according to the Associated Press. Authorities claimed Jorgensen committed criminal sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl on the beach, and later tried to lure her to his "hotel room and the band's tour bus to have sex."

Jorgensen reportedly made contact with the young girl via the Internet and cell phone before meeting her in person, reported E! News. His bail was set at $100,000. He could face up to 10 years in prison for the child luring charges, and 18 months in prison on the sexual contact charge.

In 2013, an unnamed fan accused Jorgensen of "extended contact and flirtations," and warned fans in other cities to "stay away" from him, according to the Daily Mail.

Jorgensen, who played vibraphone, bass and guitar during live shows, left Owl City's tour after the band performed at the House of Blues in August 2013. Owl City confirmed his exit with a statement issued in December 2013.

"As of this weekend, we have terminated Daniel Jorgensen's employment and all involvement as a touring member of Owl City," said the band. "Please understand that this business decision does not implicate Daniel in the judicial, but was both necessary and appropriate given the allegations that have surfaced over the last handful of days"

Owl City's manager, Steve Bursky, said in an email that Jorgensen was hired only as a musician for the tour and not as a member of the band. He added that Jorgensen being fired was "necessary and appropriate given the allegations."
