As we lead up to the big Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) kiss/relationship last season we got to peer into both their family lives. Jess’ dad visited and made things weird for the new couple. Nick’s family was introduced to us at his dad’s funeral and they also made things weird, period.
It seems this season will focus on Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and we will get to see where he comes from as far as family goes.
Executive Producer Brett Baer tells TVLine.com that viewers will get at a chance to see “some of his family members in the second half of the season.”
“You’ll get a vision of what his childhood and home life were like growing up, the way we did with Nick last year,” Baer adds.
Baer also adds that Schmidt will be “on a journey to figure himself out this season.
“He’s going to be forced to confront himself, and get in touch with the little guy inside of him.”
Schmidt was left with a huge decision at the end of last season, being stuck between his old love in Elizabeth (Merrit Wever) and his fairly new love in Cece (Hannah Simone).
It’s possible this decision has a huge affect on him heading into Season 3 of New Girl and causes him to “get in touch with the little guy inside of him.”
It seems it’s going to take him an entire season and some family time to realize that he should be with Cece. (But that’s just my opinion.)
Who do you think Schmidt should end up with? Cece? Elizabeth? Someone Else? Comment below:
Season 3 of New Girl premieres Sept. 17 at 9/8c on FOX.
