As the rumors surround a possible NFL franchise moving to Los Angeles by 2016, the league's owners will take the next step in expediting that process.
The Rams, Chargers and Raiders fans that are at all fearful any their franchises are poised to leave St. Louis, San Diego or Oakland may soon have a way to begin coping with their loss.
"Sources have told FOX Sports that, at next Tuesday's special meeting in Illinois, NFL owners will discuss implementing a program to allow fans to make deposits to get on a waiting list for tickets at a temporary stadium in L.A. before the end of the calendar year," according to FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo.
"The goal would be to start building a season-ticket base for the 2016 season now, rather than waiting until it's clear which, and how many, teams will be making the move."
To make that clear: fans will be able to put their name down to buy tickets before it's even know what team or teams will be moving to Los Angeles.
However, this topic will only be merely discussed at the meetings. Garafolo notes there will not be a vote on the issue next week and any future vote would take place late this year.
This report comes just a few days after New York Giants' co-owner John Mara told WFAN 660 radio that he believes there is a "good chance" there will be two teams in Los Angeles sharing a stadium by 2016.
Perhaps those two teams could be the Raiders and Chargers, who both secured a land deal in May to move toward building a new stadium in Los Angeles in the event they cannot get new stadiums in their current cities.
Keep an eye on this topic next week, as further developments could come out of the owners meetings.
