UPDATE: Emma Bunton, aka Baby Spice, has now denied that Spice Girls have agreed on a reunion tour for next year, according to BBC News. On her Heart FM radio show this morning, she insisted "nothing's happening at the moment" and then said that "if anything happens and it's concrete, and we decide on something, I will let you know."
The Sun's journalist Dan Wootton, who wrote the original breaking story, later tweeted, "And a note from me to people saying Emma 'denied' story this AM. She didn't. But no official announcement will come until later this year."
Almost 20 years after the popular girl group Spice Girls released their hit song "Wannabe," they have decided to celebrate by reuniting for an international tour next summer, and '90s girls all over the world are going nuts.
The decision to reunite for a world tour was made during a secret meeting last month in London, according to Yahoo! News. The idea comes from their quick international stardom and the fact that 20 years later they're still one of the most known, and most popular, girl groups.
Fans may be a little disappointed to find out that one member will not be joining them on the tour, though. Victoria Beckham, known as Posh Spice, will not be able to perform because "she is too busy," according to The Sun.
"She is far too busy running her fashion brand and looking after her family to get back on stage," an insider told the British tabloid of Beckham, who is married to soccer star David Beckham. "She also feels that they left the stage on an amazing high with their Olympics performance and worries a reunion could tarnish their legacy."
That performance took place in London three years ago, and all five of the girls were in attendance. Despite what Posh may think, Baby, Scary, Sporty and Ginger Spice are all on board. The offer is still on the table for Beckham, but she has already "wished the girls the best of luck."
"This will be one of the biggest pop reunions of all time," the insider continued. "There is a huge demand for the Spice Girls to get back together, especially with the nostalgia around the two-decade anniversary of their first release next summer. They should each make more than ten million pounds from this."
The group will soon begin its negotiations with tour promoters and will also soon be choosing a new management team. Dates and locations have not yet been revealed, according to Contact Music. The girls want to "be in control" of their schedules, and official decisions should be made sometime in September or October.
