David Lee Magnum Allegedly Exposed Hundreds of Sexual Partners to HIV; Former Lover Tests Positive, Comes Forward

A Missouri resident was arrested last week for reportedly endangering hundreds of sexual partners by not telling them he was HIV positive.

David Lee Magnum will make a court appearance on Thursday at Stoddard County courthouse, on grounds that he wittingly exposed a former lover to the deadly virus known to cause AIDS.

The Los Angeles Times reported that 37-year-old Magnum was turned into the police by a past partner named in court documents as D.B.

Magnum's former partner tested positive for HIV after engaging in sexual relations with the Dexter, Mo. resident in 2012.

The two met on Craigslist in October that year, whereupon D.B. claimed he asked Magnum if he was clean. The suspect answered that he did not have any sexually transmitted diseases.

Magnum's past roommate reportedly let D.B. know that Magnum was HIV positive, and found out about his ailment in 2003.

Magnum told Dexter law enforcement officials he'd engaged in sexual acts with more than 300 people since he was first diagnosed. He claimed he didn't want to tell anyone about his sickness because he was wary "of rejection."

Magnum is currently being held by authorities on a $250,000 cash bond.

If convicted, Magnum could face a sentencing of 15 years in jail for consciously exposing a person to HIV. He could also receive a life sentencing for infecting someone with HIV.
