Charles Kelley, guitarist for country act Lady Antebellum, is going to be a daddy! The singer and his wife, Cassie McConnell Kelley, are expecting their first child together, People reported. McConnell Kelly announced the good news in a post on her lifestyle blog Womanista.
"Charles and I are SO BEYOND EXCITED to share with y'all that we are expecting a baby!" McConnell Kelley wrote in a post titled "Expecting a Baby!"
"He or she is due in February and we are so happy we can hardly stand it," she continued. "Like, ecstatic and I'm crying even as I type those words!"
The sweet post accompanied a beautiful shot of Charles and Cassie cozied up together on a couch. The couple, who have been married for six years, smiled as they gazed into each other's eyes while holding coffee mugs with the words "mother" and "father" printed on them.
McConnell Kelley opened up about the couple's struggle with fertility in her heartfelt post. She said the couple tried to conceive a few years ago and didn't have any luck. They scheduled an appointment with Dr. Abby Eblen, a Nashville fertility specialist, in November. After taking a series of tests, Dr. Eblen told them that their chances of conceiving naturally were less than one percent.
She went on to explain that the couple decided to take a break from trying to conceive to enjoy the summer and focus on their respective careers.
"Then it happened. I woke up one morning in June and there it was, a positive pregnancy test," she wrote. "I was in shock. Happy shock, but shock. Our baby decided to join our family in God's time, which is always right."
