K-Cup Soup: Campbell's and Keurig Offer Quick-Brewing Chicken Noodle Soup from a Coffeemaker

Picture this: take a Keurig-you know, the quick-brewing coffee-making machine-and put one of their signature cups in the holster.

Out comes piping hot chicken noodle soup.

No, you didn't read incorrectly: Campbell Soup Co. has announced that K-cup soup packs will soon be compatible and ready to make with the Green Mountain single-serving coffee contraption.

"It's delicious soup at the touch of a button," Campbell CEO Denise Morrison told the Associated Press.

The soup packets include broth that brews with dried pasta and veggies.

Green Mountain explained that Keurig machines are self-cleaning post-brew, so there should be no issues with mixing soup and coffee flavors.

The company has already expanded into different areas of the market, offering fruit drinks and hot cocoa for their beverage maker.

Campbell and Green Mountain said they plan to release three different kinds of Keurig-compatible soup next year-among them, Chicken Broth & Noodle.

For the past few months, Campbell Soup Co. has been shifting its partnerships strategically, in efforts to bolster sales, Yahoo Finance reported.

Recently, they've also rebranded some of their flavors and packaging to reach customers in their 20s and 30s. Campell's "Go" soups come in microwavable pouches and such flavors as Moroccan Style Chicken, for example.

Morrison told AP that she regularly uses a Keurig machine. She stated she came up with the idea to merge less than a year ago, told Green Mountain executives that she was interested in creating a Campell's for Keurig at an event and immediately got to work with CEO for Keurig Brian Kelley. They tested a "considerable" amount of customers before coming up with the final product.

Camden, N.J. based Campbell also makes Pepperidge Farm cookies and Prego spaghetti sauces.
