Google has finally launched a new update to its Myglass app, which allows Google Glass owners to control their Glass from their smartphones.
The invention of Google's Glass created quite a stir in the world of technology. Now, the company has given users another reason to sit back and enjoy the device. The latest Myglass companion app update now offers an additional feature to the device - remote control.
Google Glass owners can now "touch/swipe/tap to control the Glass UI through the screencast experience," according to the app description on Google Play. The screencast experience allows other people to see what the Google Glass user is watching using their Android device screen.
The latest app update launched Thursday, is not fully functional with the Bluetooth and screencast experience, and some users have complained. Otherwise, users have no regrets.
"The app works fairly well but has issues and connectivity both to Bluetooth and to the screencasting function," said a Glass user Scott Lawson.
"The app sporadically shuts down and restarts when running on my HTC Evo. Bluetooth tethering doesn't work, either," wrote another user Daniel Watts.
But the Bluetooth connectivity issue has not been reported among all Glass users as some enjoyed the app at its best form.
"The heart of Glass Without this app Glass would be useless. Slick design and connected seamlessly to my Glass via Bluetooth. Yay!" Stephanie Robesky wrote on Google Play comments.
"Wonderful! Makes syncing my glass device effortless," a happy Jaron Swab wrote.
"Win! Screencasting works fantastically well for me - We just need an app store that will also support 3rd party apps," Allen S'quard wrote.
In addition to the update, Google also revealed plans of bringing a wide range of new apps to its Google Glass and also confirmed that a Google Glass App Store is coming next year after the device is made widely available. But for now the update is working great for several Glass users who have rated it 4.8 out of 5 stars.
