Former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday in Superior Court, where he'll formally hear the charges against him found in the grand jury indictment. The arraignment is set for 2 p.m. ET. Watch the live stream HERE and HERE.
Hernandez's first arraignment in June was in district court. With the grand jury recently handing down an indictment, Hernandez will be officially read the charges on Friday in Fall River Superior Court. With an indictment, the case can now go to trial.
A trial date could also be set.
The 23-year-old is expected to be arraigned Friday on first-degree murder and five gun-related charges. The ex-NFL player is accused of orchestrating and executing the shooting death of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.
At his arraignment in June, Hernandez pleaded not guilty.
The defense attorneys for Hernandez have called the Commonwealth's case circumstantial and weak. Authorities have not yet found the weapon used to murder Lloyd.
Court documents suggest Carlos Ortiz, a suspect arrested in connection to the crime, is providing the prosecution information and could be called on as a witness when the case moves to trial.
Hernandez is also believed to be involved in an unsolved double homicide from 2012 in Boston. Although the weapon used in the double murder was reportedly found, Hernandez hasn't been charged - if evidence does link him to the crime, he's unlikely to be charged on Friday, according to Sporting News.
