NCIS Season 11: A Recap of the What Makes the Show Great; Overcoming Losses

NCIS is the most watched scripted show on TV. So, to remind everyone why that’s so they’ve released a video outlining—or rather recapping—all the reasons this is the case.

The video (which can be seen here on BuddyTV.com) highlights some of the more important moments from the show including everything from Kate’s death to a collage of head slaps to the tragedy that rocked the world of Ziva and Director Vance.

Cote de Pablo Talks about Leaving the Show

This clip is a good reminder of what the show has been and what it has had to overcome. Throughout the entire series “NCIS” has gotten the departures of characters that seemed like staples—Jenny Shepard and Kate Todd for example.

As Michael Weatherly reminded fans in an interview with TVLine, it’s this ability to overcome that will allow the show to move past the departure of Cote de Pablo.

“I remember being with Cote at the end of Season 5, walking through the Mojave desert and into a diner and seeing Lauren Holly’s wax dummy in a pool of blood,” said Weatherly. “I thought, ‘This is crazy! I didn’t see this coming at all. I mean, she’s the director of NCIS!

“We have great writers and a remarkable core DNA that [Show Creator Donald] Bellisario created,” Weatherly added, “and somehow it’s so sturdy that it withstands all of these changes.” He also mentioned Bellisario’s departure from the show following Season 4 as one of the obstacles “NCIS” had to overcome.

Although the departure of Ziva will be no doubt be sad for long-time NCIS watchers, this will give the writers some flexibility beginning at Episode 3 of Season 11 and going forward. Hopefully they’ll continue making NCIS as CBS says, “TV’s #1 Show.”

Season 11 of NCIS premieres Sept. 24 on CBS.
