Celebrity chef Sandra Lee announced that she will undergo yet another surgery to battle breast cancer. The Food Network star posted an update to her Facebook page detailing her health issues, the Associated Press reported.
"Andrew and I have decided that tomorrow I will go back into surgery," she wrote in her Facebook post, mentioning her longtime boyfriend, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. "I did my very best to avoid this (when I tell you I did everything, I mean everything - modern, Eastern and holistic) but infection is an incredible monster."
She went on to explain that she doesn't treat her disease lightly and used a tennis analogy to describe her determination to win the fight against breast cancer.
"Right now the ball is in my court and it's time for a mean backhand-and I am taking that shot," she continued. "So my plan for tomorrow is game, set, match!"
She also offered words of comfort and encouragement to other women who are experiencing their own battles with the disease.
"Stay strong, focus on the light and I send you my love," she added. "When I am done I WILL be lending you my backhand."
The 49-year-old was hospitalized last week after a setback with her recovery from a double mastectomy, HNGN previously reported. She underwent the procedure in May, but she was rushed to the hospital after she experienced extreme pain in the operated area, which doctors found was caused by "fluid buildup." Gov. Cuomo rushed to her side and has been supportive since her diagnosis.
