"American Horror Story: Hotel" turned one of its good buys bad. Lily Rabe, who appeared in all four seasons of the hit FX series, is set to play the most famous female serial killer of all time, Aileen Wuornos, co-creator Ryan Murphy confirmed to the Los Angeles Times.
"We're doing a two-part, well, we always do a two-part Halloween episode, but our Halloween episode this year is called 'Devil's Night,'" Murphy said. "I'm directing it because I love the script so much, when we finished it I said, 'I can't give this to anybody else.' Lily Rabe is coming to that episode."
"She's playing Aileen Wuornos, which is really fun and bizarre," Murphy said. "I don't want to give too much away, but I will tell you that she's at the centerpiece of that, and that's who she's playing."
Rabe previously played loony mother/ghost Nora Montgomery in season one and Sister Mary Eunice in season two of "American Horror Story" and last year on "Freak Show." Season three of the horror series saw Rabe in the role of Misty Day, a hippie witch who was obsessed with Stevie Nicks, according to Entertainment Weekly.
This announcement did not mark the first time the prolific female serial killer appeared on screen. Wuornos was the center of the Charlize Theron movie "Monster," in which the actress won an Academy Award for her performance as the prostitute that killed seven clients, according to MoviePilot.
"American Horror Story: Hotel" premiers Oct. 7.
