Tyler Perry: Actor Lands The Role Of Tanner Bolt In "Gone Girl"

It has been confirmed that Tyler Perry has joined the cast of the upcoming film adaptation of Gillian Glynn's "Gone Girl."

Perry will play the role of defense attorney Tanner Bolt, the man who represents Ben Affleck's character Nick after his wife disappears on their wedding day, according to EW.com. The film will be directed by David Fincher as a thriller based on the popular novel by Gillian Flynn. When Nick's fiancé, Amy, disappears a case is launched against her husband who quickly becomes the prime suspect.

Actress Reese Witherspoon optioned the novel in 2012 and is producing the film, which is set to begin shooting later this month and is expected for a 2015 release date.

Deadline also reports Kim Dickens and Patrick Fugit are nearing deals to star as the detectives investigating the case of Amy, played by Rosamund Pike, in the film. Meanwhile, EW has confirmed that "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris is currently in talks to play Amy's old boyfriend, Desi Collings.

Perry seems to be joining a star studded cast for the upcoming thriller's release. Perry is no stranger to the world of drama and thrillers. While he's known for his comedies such as "Diary of a Mad Black Woman," and "Medea's Witness Protection," not to mention a couple sitcoms on TBS, the 43-year-old director and actor has created a few thrillers including this year's film "Temptation" and "I Can Do Bad All By Myself."

Perry even had a small speaking role in the 2009 remake of "Star Trek" by director J.J. Abrams. With "Gone Girl" shaping up to be one of the biggest movies of 2015, especially given the stellar cast of stars, the hope is that putting Perry in front of the camera for a longer gig might prove to add a familiar yet net flavor to the film.
