A new survey by apps analytics firm Localytics has found that Amazon's Kindle Fire tablets account for 37 percent of the android tablets sold in the U.S. This has resulted in a 20 percent rise in Amazon's overall sales figures.
Christmas holiday sales have been kind to Amazon's Kindle Fire devices as the company saw a 20 percent rise in overall sales with the tablet alone contributing to a major portion of this hike.
Localytics recently conducted survey and found that Amazon's Kindle Fire held 37 percent shares in the Android Tablet Market of the U.S.
"In the meantime, any Android developer with a focus on tablets should be distributing their apps in the Amazon App Store," said Localytics, which analyzed data from over 500 million unique devices during its research. "The degree to which Amazon has dominated their most serious geographical market should speak to the future potential, and since Google Play is unavailable on the Kindle Fire family, adding Amazon's App Store as a distribution channel is important."
Amazon is now looking to add advertisements to the device along with other linked websites as the company steps up competition with rivals such as Google, Facebook and AOL.
"We've been heads down, focused on building an advertising offering and solution that is right for marketers and right for our customers," said Lisa Utzschneider, vice-president of global sales for Amazon Media Group.
