The Following Season 2 News: True Blood Star Joins the Cast; Joe Carroll Gets Another Disciple

Yet again “The Following” is increasing its long line of new cast members.

Veteran actress Carrie Preston will play one of Joe Carroll’s (James Purefoy) disciple in Season 2 of the FOX hit, according to TVGuide.com. The role may be pretty important since Joe probably still has a whole bunch of followers and not all of them are announced.

Preston may be most recognized for her work as waitress Arlene on HBO’s “True Blood.” She is also known for playing Elsbeth Tascioni, the ridiculously quirky but effective lawyer on CBS’s “The Good Wife.”

Preston’s CBS resume also includes a recurring role on the CBS hit drama “Person of Interest.”

The former “True Blood” actress is the second major star to be cast as a Joe Carroll follower. In August it was reported “Dexter” star Sam Underwood would be joining the cast as a possible Joe Carroll supporter.

Underwood is most recently known for playing Dexter’s protégé Zach Hamilton. In addition to being on the upcoming season of “The Following” he will also play a disturbed friend of Dana’s in Showtime’s “Homeland.”

There have also been some additions on the good guys side as well. Ryan Hardy’s (Kevin Bacon) niece will make her appearance on the show. Max Hardy will be played by “90210” star Jessica Stroup.

Deb Parker (Annie Parisse) has been replaced by FBI Agent Ken Phillips. Phillips will be played by former “NYPD Blue” star James McDaniel. Parker died last season at the hands of two of Joe Carroll’s followers.

Season 2 of the “The Following” premieres this fall on FOX.
