‘Star Wars Episode 7’ RUMORS: Lucasfilm Announces Fan Art Competition for ‘The Force Awakens’

Does the Force help with artistic ability?

Lucasfilm and HP have announced a joint program called Art Awakens that kicks off today with a two month fan art contest in advance of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." That means fans can start submitting works of art into the contest right this very moment. Great Obi-Wan's ghost!

The rules are less complicated than a galactic trade federation senate hearing: the art must be connected to "The Force Awakens." That's it. Each work of art will be judged by a committee of individuals from Disney, Lucasfilm and Industrial Light and Magic. The contest will then have five winners whose work will be featured in a professional exhibit in Los Angeles. Contestants will also have the opportunity to win a notebook computer from HP.

The professional exhibit will be held at Gallery 1988 in L.A. The forum is known for hosting pop-culture themed art exhibitions so "The Force Awakens" will fit right in. Original works will be auctioned off with proceeds going towards the Force for Change campaign to benefit UNICEF Kid Power which inspires children to become more active and earn points for food packets for malnourished children. Each winner will have their work displayed at the exhibit and will be flown into L.A. for the V.I.P. opening night. The event will be held on November 13-15.

You can submit your entries at ArtAwakens.com.
