Oliver Queen is in need of a little magic this season on "Arrow" and John Constantine plans to deliver as The CW series resurrects the DC character played by Matt Ryan on the short-lived NBC series, "Constantine."
Ryan will don his signature trench coat once again to the delight of the faithful "Constantine" fans that saw the ratings-challenged show cancelled in May. He will make his "Arrow" debut in the fifth episode of the upcoming fourth season, titled "Haunted," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Constantine will provide valuable support to Oliver (Stephen Amell) when arrows just won't suffice, according to the episode description obtain by The Hollywood Reporter.
"We are thrilled to have Matt Ryan reprise the role of John Constantine on an upcoming episode of 'Arrow.' Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired," 'Arrow' executive producer Marc Guggenheim said in a statement. "The introduction of magic and mysticism on the show this season has provided a truly organic opportunity for us to bring John Constantine to 'Arrow' and the CW's DC universe. It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the 'Constantine' fans who were so incredibly supportive of that series."
Amell expressed his interest in crossing over to "Constantine" if the show had received a second season. He welcomed Ryan to the "Arrow" with a short message on Twitter.
Ryan also confirmed the rumors of his revival on "Arrow" in a video to his Hellblazer/Constantine fans. He also thanked thew CW show and Warner Bros., which produces "Arrow" and backed "Constantine."
"Arrow" will return on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
