Season 8 of "The Big Bang Theory" ended with Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) running off to Vegas to elope and Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) relationship possibly coming to an end as Amy told Sheldon she needed a break. With Season 9 right around the corner, it's got everyone wondering what's in store for these two prominent couples.
Remember when Leonard went on that North Sea expedition? Well, Leonard kissed a woman while he was away and it has now been revealed that this character, Mandy, will be turning up in the second episode of the season, according to TV Line. Melissa Tang was cast to play Mandy and this will be adding some drama to Leonard and Penny's Vegas plan.
As for Amy and Sheldon's relationship, it seems they will be the focus of the premiere, according to Yibada. Season 8 ended with a heartbreaking moment between the two, as Sheldon had plans to propose to his longtime girlfriend but ruined his moment by naturally showing more interest in "The Flash" than Amy, causing her to freak out and break up with him.
We've always known that Amy had a very lonely childhood without many friends, but it seems we'll be getting a closer look at life before Sheldon in the upcoming season. Sheldon really did change her world, but with their relationship on the rocks, we'll be seeing some flashbacks from her previous life that will give us a deeper connection to who Amy really is. Writer Eric Kaplan said that they may even be bringing in some of her family members onto the show to give us a better understanding.
The premiere will apparently give us all the answers we've been dying to know about Sheldon's plan to propose, according to Business Insider. While at Comic-Con, many fans asked producer Steve Molaro about Sheldon's plan to propose and when exactly he bought the ring. All Molaro could say was, "The answer will be in the premiere episode of season nine."
