Jake Owen finally addressed the big elephant in the room - his divorce. Just one day after announcing his split from wife Lacey Buchanan, the 32-year-old country star opened up about his divorce to wife Lacey Buchanan during a concert at WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minn. on Saturday.
While playing an acoustic version of Garth Brooks, "The Dance," Owens paused and personally addressed the crowd, saying, "A lot of people maybe shy away from it, but I think I'm going to do some weird stuff. My wife and I are getting a divorce, and this is probably the hardest s--t I've ever done in my life, to walk on stage every night, and try to pretend that everything's awesome, when it really isn't awesome. You know what I'm saying?"
"But thanks to people like you for singing along - you have no idea how much you guys lift me up every single night," Owen continued. "And I love my wife more than anything in the world, and I love my little baby girl, Pearl, more than anything in the world. If it wasn't for both of them, I wouldn't even be here right now to be a happy man."
Owens and Buchanan first met on the set of Owen's video for "Eight Second Ride." In April 2012, Owens proposed to his ladylove while performing in his hometown of Vero Beach, Fla. The couple has a two-year-old daughter named Pearl.
After three years of being together, the "Don't Think I Can't Love You" singer posted a statement via Twitter, with the caption, "This is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. We appreciate your support and privacy in this matter."
"I wanted to let my fans know how much I've appreciated their love and support of not only my career, but my family as a whole," the singer's statement read. "Sadly, Lacey and I have decided to end our marriage. We want to focus on our daughter Pearl and make sure that she has a beautiful life with loving parents. We appreciate you respecting our privacy during this time."
