Prince Harry kept out of the spotlight over the past couple of weeks after he left for Africa to embark on a three-month "dream job," People magazine reported. The royal, 30, finally reappeared with a different look, a beard! Harry was photographed as he visited the African Conservation Experience's Khulula Care for Wild, based in Nelspruit, on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
The Prince surprised the staff at the largest center dedicated to caring for orphaned rhinos in South Africa where he met with the endangered rhinos and their caretakers, according to Us weekly. Harry spent several hours speaking and touring with volunteers and even participated in a feeding round, all while he sported his new beard.
In June, Harry left for Africa to embark on a three-month-long "dream job" where he planned to work on conservation efforts in Namibia after completing his 10-year-long career in the British military, Wonderwall reported. On the trip, he intended to raise awareness and curb threats to endangered species in Africa, particularly in South Africa, Tanzania and Botswana.
Martin Bornman of Care for Wild Africa said that Harry's scruff is a mark of his work in the thick of it during his time in Africa. "He is working actively with the anti-poaching units inside the Park," Bornman told People. "That is why he has got the beard and everything. He had literally just come out of the bush."
Harry has been seen with his ginger stubble in the past but it is a rare sight for the normally clean-shaven younger brother of Prince William.
