It's good news for Dallas Cowboys fans - quarterback Tony Romo's X-rays came back negative after a monster hit on Sunday by two New York Giants defenders. Romo, who briefly left the game after the hit, isn't expected to miss any games, CBS DFW reports.
Romo suffered the crippling hit in the final minute of the first half. He remained on the turf while the team's medical staff attended to him. Romo finally made his way to the sideline, missing only one play before returning after halftime.
At the time, the Cowboys said Romo had the wind knocked out of him. After undergoing X-rays on Monday, there appears to be no significant injury from the hit.
"We feel optimistic with the tests coming back negative," Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones told 105.3 The Fan on Monday, via CBS DFW. "He'll be sore but something he'll be able to play with, as it looks right now."
Romo, who signed a six-year extension worth $108 million in March, completed 36-of-49 passes for 263 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Owner Jerry Jones commended the quarterback for his resolve to play.
"You've got to come to the conclusion that this is one tough player, one tough man," Jones said after Sunday's win.
For Romo, the injury wasn't anything extraordinary.
"It's part of football," Romo said after the game, via CBS. "You take some hits sometime. You've got to play. You just get back out there and play. ... I'm going to be fine. My (injury is) nothing crazy."
Dallas plays the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. ET.
