The recent round of leaks about the iPad Mini 4 is certainly causing some confusion. The most notable of these are those that claim a redesign is in the works so the device would resemble the iPad Air 2. But there are others:
Split Screen: While this feature is already a staple in many Android devices such as Samsung and LG, Apple has been more reticent to include this feature, preferring to stick to its conservative and simplistic system. A split-screen multitasking functionality was finally introduced with the release of the IOS 9. However, it only supported iPad Air 2. An upgrade in processor and the addition of more RAM could provide just enough power to support the functionality as well. This leak came from a resource file found in Apple's new OS X El Capitan's Safari 9 browser showing split-view support for iPad Mini, CNET reported.
Thin Chassis: In the mini's developmental evolution it makes sense to hear media sources such as Macotakara – a reliable source of Apple leaks – claiming that the new model will be thinner than ever, perhaps even as thin as the iPad Air 2. Other information points to an additional 3mm to the device's length, reported Techcrunch.
Specs Upgrade: Finally, there is the case of upgraded internals. The iPad Mini 3's spec sheet disappointed many users since it barely improved on its predecessor, adding only the fingerprint sensor and a few other improvements. The device's new internals should see significant changes if only to accomodate the new multitasking requirements in IOS 9.
