Tahoe Paddle Boarder: Selfies Could Be Clue In Missing Persons Case

California police are using selfies as a clue in the missing persons case about a paddle boarder who went missing on Lake Tahoe, Nev. on Wednesday.

The man rented a paddle boat with cash before heading out onto the water, then about a hour later, another boater found his possessions abandoned and floating in the water, according to USA Today. These items included a rented paddle board, camera, lifejacket and selfie stick.

Police now hope to use the pictures taken on his device to help them search for the man.

Though family and friends have not yet issued a report, it's still being treated as a missing persons case, ABC News reported. It is unknown whether the man drowned or is still alive.

Officers started a shoreline search of Lake Tahoe Wednesday night and continued searching into Thursday morning, according to SFGate.

The U.S. Coast Guard, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office and a CHP helicopter joined the search as well.

Authorities also found selfie pics of the man in Italy, Dubai and the United Arab Emirates, which they believe he visited sometime over the last six months or so.

There is a second man in some of the selfies that police have yet to identify as well.
