While she has not yet won the Democratic primary election, Hillary Clinton has been endorsed by a major labor union. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union announced their support for her on Friday, according to The Huffington Post.
"Hillary Clinton has been a strong supporter of this union for years and she is now the target of unprecedented attacks, financed on a scale never seen before...The time to help is when help is needed most, and we intend to do just that," IAM union president Tom Buffenbarger said.
The union represents more than 700,000 North American workers. They say Clinton is an "overwhelming favorite" in the upcoming election. Two other unions have also announced who they are backing for the presidential race. The American Federation of Teachers endorsed Clinton in July. National Nurses United put their support behind Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Friday, The Huffington Post reported.
The endorsement was announced at the IAM 2015 staff conference and on the union's official Twitter feed, Politico reported. "We will deliver our sister Hillary Clinton as the next President of the United States," Buffenbarger said.
The IAM said that Clinton beat Sanders in a poll of union members by a whopping six-to-one margin, according to The Washington Post.
