More than 1,000 people in Arlington, Texas were in attendance at the funeral for Christian Taylor, the unarmed black teen who was fatally shot by a police officer.
Taylor's service took place on Saturday at Arlington's Koinonia Christian Church, and among the thousands in attendance were Taylor's family, friends and teammates.
Taylor, who 19 years old and set to start his sophomore year at Angelo State University in San Angelo as a member of their football team before he was shot and killed by a North Texas police officer, Brad Miller, answering a burglary call at a car dealership, according to NBC News.
Miller was a 43-year-old police officer in training with no prior police experience and has been fired since the incident, according to PBS.
The teen's teammates, both past and present, were in attendance, some traveling from at least five hours away for his funeral.
His mother, Tina, has yet to speak out publicly about her son's death, but she shared a letter that she wrote at the funeral, saying, "To know that you are resting with our Father is enough for me," according Dallas News.
Taylor and Miller's fatal interaction was not caught on camera since Arlington officers are not equipped with vest cams.
