David Beckham has decided to take his football career further and joined Paris Saint-Germain. The midfielder announced Thursday that he will be donating his salary to a children's charity.
After Beckham was spotted training with Arsenal, speculations on whether the former England captain was looking to resume his football career began making the rounds. Not just that, fans wondered which club Beckham would join as both QPR and West Ham United showed a lot of interest in signing on the midfielder.
However, Beckham announced Thursday that he will be joining Paris Saint-Germain and has signed a five year contract with them. The 37-year-old player also announced that he will be donating his salary to a children's society.
"It's one of the things we talked about from the start, but this all happened so quick," said Beckham, who did not disclose how much he will be paid or which group will get the money. "I thought what a great idea it would be that the salary would go to a children's charity in Paris."
While experts speculate on his decision to join the French club, Beckham says that he's always been successful with all the clubs he's played for. He reveals that after being a part of Manchester United, he will never play for another English club. Beckham also says that he thinks himself very lucky as even at the age of 37, he's been getting a lot of offers, even more that what he got when his career was at its peak.
"I am very honored about that. I chose Paris because I can see what the club are trying to do, the players the club are trying to bring in. It's an exciting city, always has been, always will be," said the football star.
