Florida teens have been captured and charged with kidnapping federal agent Armando Alaniz.
During a press conference on Friday Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings explained the teens confronted the agent at gunpoint and then restrained him in the back seat of the car. They hit the victim using a pistol and drove around the area for two hours, New York Daily News reported.
Alainz was ultimately rescued when his wife tried to reach the police through an Onstar car security system after she could not contact her husband for some time. An employee of OnStar reached the car and heard the agent shouting for help. At that point, the young boys threw the victim on the side of the road and took his car, Demings added.
Alaniz was not carrying his firearm during the incident because he was on vacation. He suffered only minor injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital.
The four teens are still in high school. Three of the four suspects – 15, 16 and 18 years old – were arrested on Friday afternoon. The remaining 18-year-old suspect was arrested on Friday night. They will be charged for crimes including armed kidnapping, carjacking with a firearm, and aggravated battery using a firearm, the Sheriff's office announced, according to ABC News.
Demings added that these high school students are "playing a dangerous game."
The two 18-year-olds have been identified as Gregory McDonald and Dante Askins.
Askins is a member of a street gang called Death Over Mercy and was charged with attempted murder as an adult in 2013 when he was 16 because of a shooting involving rival Gorilla gang, according to FOX News.
The younger suspects have also been on the wrong side of the law before.
