At Sunday night's Teen Choice Awards, Ellen DeGeneres took home the surfboard for Choice Comedian. She naturally brought a few laughs before she gave a very heartfelt and empowering speech to teenagers all over the world.
After giving her wife Portia de Rossi a quick kiss, the 52-year-old talk show host got up on stage, thanked the viewers, shared a few jokes, and then continued on with some extremely moving words of wisdom, according to People.
"You know they say that teens make bad decisions but you made a very good decision tonight by choosing me. That was smart, all of you," she said. "I want to say also that it feels good to be chosen, but there was a time in my life that I was not chosen. I was the opposite of chosen because I was different, and I think I wanna make sure that everyone knows that what makes you different right now, makes you stand out later in life. So you should be proud of being different, you should be proud of who you are."
She shared a few more jokes and continued, "Really, the most important thing I want to say is just really embrace who you are because being unique is very, very important and fitting in is not all what matters. It's being unique and who you are."
DeGeneres then went on to explain that this was not only an amazing day because of the award, but because it was her seven-year wedding anniversary with de Rossi, 47, as well. She dedicated her award to her beautiful wife and wished her a happy anniversary while de Rossi smiled, cried some tears of joy and blew her a kiss.
Season 13 of DeGeneres' talk show "The Ellen Show" will begin on Sept. 8. She took to Instagram to hilariously make the announcement with Kim Kardashian's now-famous nude baby bump photo, covering her up in all the right places letting everyone know about the premiere. "That was sweet of her to do," she wrote.
