Post-hardcore band Underoath will reunite after a hiatus that began in 2013, according to Alternative Press. The group will perform at the Self Help Festival, which takes place next March 19 in San Bernardino, Calif.
It is not known if the reunion show will be a one-off or lead to more performances, but it seems unlikely that Underoath will record another album, which would be its first since 2010's Ø (Disambiguation).
"I would never rule that out, but for me, I don't know that it's possible," singer/drummer Aaron Gillespie told AP. "I'm so busy: I own a studio, I've been playing for Paramore, I'm doing my solo thing and we all have families, etc. Is it feasible with what everyone has going on? That's the main part of the situation."
Speaking to Loudwire, Gillespie called the festival show "fun, just pure fun. So excited to get real closure and give all the peeps the best night ever with my five oldest buddies."
Meanwhile, vocalist Spencer Chamberlain noted, "I think after the storm settled, we immediately started being friends again. I'm not sure if the 'stars aligned' or what. All of our schedules lined up to where we could do this show. I couldn't be more stoked!"
Joining Gillespie and Chamberlain in the reunited band will be Grant Brandell, Chris Dudley (keyboards), James Smith (guitar) and Tim McTague (guitar).
Underoath formed in Florida in 1998, according to All Music. Originally labled as a Christian metalcore act, the band's breakout album, "Chasing Safety," arrived in 2004. In 2006, the Underoath album "Define the Great Line" clibmed to No. 2 on the Billboard albums chart, making it the highest ranking Christian album on the chart since LeAnn Rimes' "You Light Up My Life" in 1997, according to All Music.
