The start of the school year is always a big deal, no matter what grade you're in. But one student's misery about entering school for the very first time was caught on camera for all the world to see when a reporter from California's KTLA made him cry on live TV!
"Andrew, are you excited for prekindergarten," reporter Courtney Friel asked Andrew Macias before the young boy entered Los Angeles' City Terrace Elementary School.
"Yes," he responded.
"Why?" Friel then happily asked.
"I don't know," replied Macias with a shrug.
"Are you gonna miss your mom," Friel curiously questioned the 4-year-old.
After answeing "no," the tears began to flow from the little tyke's eyes.
"Seconds later, Andrew’s mom gave him a hug off camera," said KTLA.
Later on, journalist Friel felt remorseful about the incident. "For the second day in a row I'm on 'back to school' coverage — and I just made a pre-K kid cry— I feel awful about that!," she tweeted along with some crying emojis.
The news gatherer also took to Instagram to express her feelings of guilt. "This breaks my heart and now I'm anxious about sending my kids to school! He was trying to be so brave!" said Friel.
