The long-awaited sequel for the fourth installment of "Jurassic Park" has finally been given an official name and release date, CNN reports. "Jurassic Park 4" which will now be called "Jurassic World" was supposed to smash into theaters next summer but will be released in 3D on Friday, June 12, 2015.
Universal Pictures announced the news via Twitter by revealing a new logo. In May it was announced that the movie would be pushed back in order to give Steven Spielberg, the director of the original 1993 movie and the 1997 sequel, a chance to finish the script.
It had already been announced that Colin Trevorrow ("Safety Not Guaranteed") will direct the sequel from a draft of a screenplay he wrote with Derek Connolly. "Jurassic World" will be produced by Pat Crowley and Frank Marshall.
According to Hypable, Trevorrow visited the original island used as Isla Nublar hinting that the fourth installment could take viewers back to the original "Jurassic Park" location. The name of the upcoming movie also holds a lot of clues.
"The title is particularly interesting. The name 'Jurassic World' obviously has different connotations than 'Jurassic Park' something that was included in all of the previous movies," Hypable writes. "In the three 'Jurassic Park' movies, dinosaurs existed within the parks, but the new title seems to suggest that they will roam the entire Earth."
The summer of 2015 will be pretty busy for Universal Pictures who will also be releasing several sequels including "Star Wars: Episode VII," the "Man of Steel" sequel, the "Independence Day" sequel and "The Avengers: Age of Ultron."
The first three movies in the series have ranked in about $1.9 billion and the 2013 re-release of "Jurassic Park" in 3D grossed $114 million globally.
