Highest Paid Actress: Forbes Releases 2015 List, Find Out Which Leading Lady is Number One With $52 Million

Forbes has officially released their list of this year's 18 highest paid actresses around the world, and one of our all-time favorites is at the top.

In third place comes comedian Melissa McCarthy from "Spy" and "Bridesmaids." In the past 12 months, from June 2014 to June 2015, she has earned $23 million.

Coming in second is Scarlett Johansson with $35.5 million for her role in "Avengers."

And at the top of the list is none other than Jennifer Lawrence.

Lawrence, 25, earned the number one spot with a whopping $52 million for her role in the hit "Hunger Games" franchise. This is just $1 million more than last year's top earner, Sandra Bullock, according to CBS. Bullock placed 15 on this year's list with $8 million.

In fourth place is the only non-American on the list, Bingbing Fan, a Chinese actress who earned $21 million. Following Fan come big names like Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway, Kristen Steward, Cameron Diaz, Gwenyth Paltrow, Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Emma Stone, Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman.

The list was formed into these 18 leading ladies who earned over $6 million. The male barrier, on the other hand, was much higher at $13 million, confirming the Hollywood gender pay gap. The women's combined earnings came in at $660 million less than the males list, according to Yahoo.

"The really top [female] stars get paid the same thing as their male counterparts," Sony's former co-chair Amy Pascal explained in 2013. "The problem is the averaged don't work because there are not enough parts for women to star in for them to get paid."

This doesn't seem to be a problem for Lawrence, though, as she's snagged roles in several movies in recent years. She made headlines last year when Sony Pictures emails were hacked, revealing that she had made less money from the profits of "American Hustle" than her male co-stars. As the highest paid actress of 2015, we can only imagine that she's very pleased now.
