The Pittsburgh Pirates face the Texas Rangers on Wednesday at 2:05 p.m. ET. Watch the live stream HERE.
Pittsburgh looks to add to its 83-61 record with a third straight win on Tuesday. The Pirates snapped a six game losing streak in Arlington on Monday in the first game, 1-0, the Associated Press reports. The Pirates then escaped with another win on Tuesday, 5-4, and they can complete the sweep on Tuesday by winning the final game of the series.
"We're still hunting for more," Pirates slugger Jordy Mercer told AP reporters. "We want to get more, as much as we can, that's for sure."
The Pirates sit one game behind St. Louis in the NL Central and lead Cincinnati by two games.
A.J. Burnett (7-10, 3.31 ERA) is slated to take the mound on Tuesday for Pittsburgh. Burnett has played well against AL teams - despite being 0-1, the right-hander has a 2.70 ERA against AL opponents.
Road starts have been the biggest struggle for Burnett. On the road, Burnett has a 4.80 ERA and is 1-4. Pittsburgh hasn't offered much support for the 36-year-old, either. In his last eight road starts, Pittsburgh has lost seven games. Burnett last played on Friday against St. Louis, giving up five runs over three innings in a 12-8 loss.
Texas is 81-63 on the year and is two games behind the Oakland Athletics in the AL West. The Rangers could eventually find themselves competing in a wild-card game against the Tampa Bay Rays, who trail 2.5 games behind Texas.
Matt Garza (3-3, 4.31) will start for the Rangers. He's 2-0 with a 3.48 ERA in Arlington since being acquired in July from the Chicago Cubs. Despite posting a 5.03 ERA over his last seven games, Garza is 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA in his four career outings against the Pirates.
