Donald Trump sang the praises of his "great friend" Tom Brady on Thursday. "I think it's ridiculous the way they've (the NFL) treated him," Trump said on Fox Business Network's Mornings with Maria. "He's a friend of mine; he's a great friend of mine. He's a great guy. I think it's terrible the way they've treated him," according to FOX Sports.
The long list of friends and admirers sticking up for Brady during his Deflategate troubles is extensive, so it wasn't a shock when The Donald added his two-cents to the mix. Trump also stated that he believes this country has bigger problems than the now-six-month-old Deflategate issues.
But just hours after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell rejected Brady's four-game suspension appeal Tuesday, Donald Trump came to the four-time Super Bowl winner's defense during an interview on CNN, according to the Los Angeles Times. "I'm for Tom Brady," Trump said. "I know him real well and I think the NFL has treated him rough."
Trump's praise of Brady isn't just bandwagon fodder. Back in May, Trump was so bold as to say if he were Tom Brady, he'd "sue the hell" out of the NFL over allegations stemming from the Deflategate scandal, according to The Boston Globe. And in May, for the third time in less than a week, Trump went on a social media tirade in defense of the star quarterback. Friends? It sure sounds like it.
